Remarks posted by Megan Preisler at Lonely T Ranch about riding lame horses are something altogether different.

Lonely T Ranch lame horse pride.
“Texas feeling his front left today. But, I respect a horse with a hitch in their step.
They've got the heart to go all day even when it bothers them ❤️

One of my best mares had founder feet and she trucked my ass through the Black Hills for a week straight. She was more than lame by day 3 of riding but her heart kept her goin strong the rest of the week. 🙌 “

WTF is that?! A lame horse has more heart because this crazy nut-job forces them to work through the pain?!

Megan Preisler is really fond of riding horses who are not just a little lame, but founder lame. This is the video that accompanied that post, showing her riding a clearly lame horse.

This is also the same horse she brags about causing to flip over by tying the reins too short in an earlier post.

Video caption reads: “So today I had something awesome….. and weird happen….

Tied down Texas head for his first real session with more bit pressure than usual. Well… he did what I love to see! He flipped himself over backwards right off the bat thinking he could evade the bit pressure 😂
That never works for a horse unless gear breaks and by going to that extreme right off the bat, you will have a horse that won't mess with bit pressure again 🙌

The weird thing, first I've seen yet, was that when he got up and I asked him to walk he looked like he pinched a nerve or stunted himself for about the next 10 minutes of walking 👀

Needless to say he worked out that kink on his own by just “walking it off” and we proceeded with the rest of our foundation. 🌱

I'm more than a little horrified to know she's shoeing horses too if she prefers a lame horse to a sound one.

While we're at it, nothing like ruining your horse's mouth before you even get in the saddle.

More than a few people are already up in arms, with good reason, and have done a number on the Reviews for Lonely T Ranch's Facebook page. Not surprising, over 1700 people “Liked” and followed the page, without saying mum about this behavior.

Some days I wish I was ignorant enough to “just do it” in regards to riding, but then I realize I have a soul and no amount of selfish desire will ever make me think it's okay to ride a lame horse for my own gain.

I mean, really, riding a foundered horse 3 days through the Black Hills and saying that's your “best horse”?! The English language can't properly convey my disgust at this moment, but it doesn't end there.

Ethical vs. Unethical Training

Megan Preisler's lack of empathy towards horses runs deep, and “that's not all folks.”

One Day of Pain by Megan PreislerOne Day of Pain by Megan Preisler continued.

She endured day 1 of pain but has 100 left to add up to the pain she gave me.  After 3 hours today she was drained. She can't quite walk easily but neither can I so it's an eye for an eye type deal.

She got to run a marathon the entire afternoon with a rope around each leg. I figure if I can't slow her down or kill her with throwing anything possible at her until I'm healed to ride her, then she deserves to live.

I've never saw it ethical to break a horses heart bc once that horses passion leaves then their will to exceed for their rider does as well.

But she's the first horse in my lifetime that I've deemed as unpredictable and with that comes the major decision of running standard training or unethical training.

Standard training would be waht has basically worked on every horse I've dealt with but with an unpredictable one it's just not enough.

Unethical training is harsh, dangerous for both horse and human, but it is the last resort to use and the only type of training that can break their heart and take away any fight, flight or will power to do anything other than stand there.

I'm going to pour my heart into her all winter…. And I'm excited to get back on her once I'm healed. ❤️

I'll post waht I do each session with her. One can judge as much as they'd like to with what I'm going to have this mare endure but just remember that I know this horse, YOU do not.

-The blood on my pants, picture that times 10 as an entire 2 inch thick, 2 ft by 1 ft pad was drenched red after 20 ish min.   It was awesomeeeeeeee 🙄

There is nothing but petty vengeance going on here. Zero understanding of horses, and if the horse is seriously that far outside of your abilities as a trainer you should be sending them on to someone more capable. There is no excuse for abusing a horse because you got injured by them.

Megan Preisler shouldn't be allowed to go anywhere near animals, whether they are horses, dairy cows, or otherwise.

  1. This woman sounds sick. I mean SERIOUSLY sick as in needs a psychiatric work-up sick. I don’t think I ever heard animal abuse described by the perpetrator in quite this way. I’ve heard of and read reports of serial killers described this way.
“I loved them so much I had to kill them”. She seems to be enjoying it right down to the blood in her pants. It’s ghoulish and sadistic and how come she hasn’t been reported to the authorities?

    1. Unfortunately, the authorities aren’t likely to do anything if the horses are in decent condition, weight-wise. Her posts are disturbing, for sure.

    2. She needs to be reported to authorities there, for animal cruelty. Share documentation about lameness conditions and pain.

  2. My grandpa was a cattle rancher, used horses to do the work. He never treated his horses like that. They were his partners in the work, and he and they both went through the same experiences. When they both got back in from the belly deep snow, they got a warm oat mash.

You can’t hide behind “I’m a farmer” as an excuse.

  3. For someone who lives on the other side of the country you sure have a lot to say. Maybe you should do some in person research instead of relying solely on social media, for all you know someone else could be writing those posts not Megan.

    1. Wow, this post sent me down a rabbit hole! I went to the facebook page and started scrolling . . . and scrolling . . . and scrolling . . . My original intention was to see the lame horse post for myself, but she posts a LOT. Could never get there. But on the way, I saw lots of things that were disturbing.

She doesn’t much care about having Coggins tests for her horses, even when traveling.

When a cow is having trouble calving, she doesn’t call a vet, but ties a rope around the baby trying to pull it out — killing the calf — and then calls it “just one of those days.”

She thought it was funny at an auction–where she went to buy horses to “rehabilitate”–when people rode horses into the ring who were lame because “I can’t get away with that on fb.” (I put “rehabilitate” in quotes because she gives these horses two weeks to find a new owner, then back to auction they go–this is a business for her) She stated “I’m not no bank looking to feed excess head for the rest of their life.”

Nobody ever wears a helmet, not even kids. I guess their heads are hard enough that they are immune?

She wishes people ate horses instead of cows because “equines are easier to fatten up.”

She calls herself a “trainer,” but she doesn’t refer to it that way–she talks about “broke,” and “breaking.” Yup, she breaks them to her will rather than having any interest in understanding them. The lame horse post is a perfect example–if she understood horses, she’d know that’s how horses are–they’ll push through the pain because they want to please us. Which is why it’s up to us to make them stop. She doesn’t care. If a horse will still move she can still have her fun.

She has disdain for “equestrians.” This is a funny one that popped up here and there–she never really defined it, but I think she means people who love horses and don’t have cattle. They are horrible, apparently, because they romanticize horses? They are too soft or something?

I realized eventually what bothers me so much about her. She’s not excessively cruel — I’ve seen worse training methods from others. But she doesn’t really care about horses. She only likes them for what they can do for her–give her fun and ribbons and money. And they are part of her business–if they aren’t profitable, off they go. She did apparently keep her first horse until she died, but most have to make money for her. I know that attitude is fairly common among ranchers–I suppose to do that work you have to be a bit hard so you can slaughter animals but she is so arrogant and unapologetic about it. People who really care about horses are just annoying to her. I’ve known other ranchers who aren’t like that–they honor the animals that feed them and have respect for them.

I kept watching her ride in the videos and was a bit stunned–for someone who has apparently been riding her whole life, she’s got a horrible seat. She rides by hanging on with her knees. And I realized that’s just part of her whole attitude–she has no interest in improving her technique to work better with the horse–if she can stick on to go fast around barrels, that’s all she cares about.

On the political side, I found it amusing that she complained about the drop in prices for crops (because of the trade war Trump started) but then yammers about what a good president he is. Like many people, she is blind to any faults he has, even when they hit her where it hurts.

      An interesting journey.

  4. Whelp, add you to the list of passengers on the cunt train. Who the hell do you think you are, being in Washington and judging someone in Wisconsin based off a FB page? Let’s go, let’s see how you like how it feels.

  5. Why are there so many seriously deranged people in horses, especially in USA? This, of course, includes the tossers you poor folk inherited from Australia who couldn’t cut it there.
I live in hope that every last one of these goddamn MOFO morons gets their karma x 10 and that they find no escape from their suffering, just as their horses could not. Despicable beings you have found and gathered here, I have to go, it makes my heart hurt too much and my faith in humanity is eroded even more than it already was.

  6. I find it very unsettling that someone can write something like this just because of stuff posted on a page!

I have known Megan personally for nearly 10 years I can say she is an amazing person, a great trainer, and she treats her animals better than any other horse owner I’ve known. She has taken in dozens of sick and starving horse, some of which she saved from kill pens, and nursed them back to health.

Another thing I feel obligated to share is that this woman is a harda** but she is also amazingly down to earth, selfless, and loving. And SHE is the reason I am still ALIVE today. When I was 14 I attempted suicide 3 times and was hospitalized. I never thought it would get better until I met Megan who took me under her wing and introduced me farm life. I finally had a reason to get out of bed in the morning and go to school because I had another support system. I later took in a rescue horse who was pretty wild due to years of abandonment and with Megan help, I was able to train him myself.
8 years ago I didn’t think I’d be able to make it through the next day, however 8 years later here I am about to graduate college with a bachelors degree.
I couldn’t have asked for a better role model growing up, and I am so incredibly grateful to have her in my life.

    I MUST ADD…
To someone who doesn’t know Megan and it looking at this page I can understand how you can wrongly judge her. Megan has a personality that is way out there and an attitude which sometimes makes her look seem off to some

BUT STILL… I CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT IF ANY OF YOU EVERY MET HER YOU WOULD LOVE HER.

  7. You have no idea what she is like shes my stepmom and shes perfect so i want you all to shut up and if you dont like what she post get a life and stop looking

  8. I was looking for something else and came across these post,i decided to train my own horses after all the horror storys i have heard,so i went through a list of them and started buying dvds.Clinton Anderson was one of them,i think it was 3 dvds of the same damn thing,he treats horses like they are a brute machine,he is a pompass ass and that is putting it mildly,if i can do without a bit,i never want to try it,soft, soft, feather touch.I grew up the rough cowshit way and it never felt right,i always thought about how i would feel if somebody kicked me in the sides and put a metal piece in my mouth and yanked me around.I found a trainer i follow, and purchased some of her dvds,i take something from everyone, that something could be,not what to do.I hate know it alls,we never stop learning until we die and the ppl who know it all are usually the idiots with insecurity issues and that turns into shit ego that belongs nowhere near a animal or human. Its really sad what ppl do to animals period.
